InceptionU launches Startup-In-Residence program

Are you a startup looking to connect with new talent? Do you need a central space to meet with clients and your team? Are you wanting to get more involved in the Calgary ecosystem?

InceptionU has launched its Startup in Residence program!

The residency allows InceptionU learners to see firsthand what it takes to run a fast-growing startup and connect with companies who are hiring. From the startup’s perspective, it’s an opportunity to connect with full-stack developers before they hit the market and meet a variety of other founders and organizations that work and visit the InceptionU space at the Calgary Central Library.

Hölmetrics, a Red Deer-based HR tech company, is the first to take part in the program.

Hölmetrics is a SaaS (software as a service) company that assesses the psychological safety within organizations. It does this by using machine learning to analyze anonymized metadata from Microsoft teams, Slack and Google Workspace.

CEO and Product Manager Chad Verity says his company was looking for a way to be more active and connected in the Calgary ecosystem. He travels down to Calgary and the InceptionU space once a week.

“One of the keys to a startup’s success is access to talent and the key for talent is connecting with companies, so there’s a symbiotic relationship for both of us,” says Verity.

He says Hölmetrics, which consists of a team of ten people, has worked with computer science students in the past, and found they weren’t a great fit for the company as their skillsets were not current or relevant to what his company is trying to build.

“That’s why we really like being at InceptionU. Their learners are doing really tangible hands-on work that they can immediately put into practice the same day. We’re looking forward to getting more involved with their learners and keeping our fingers on the pulse of that kind of learning,” says Verity.

Holmetrics hires back-end data scientists and front-end web developers. The company has recently launched its freemium offering of a Psychological Safety Assessment. If you’re interested in learning more, please visit www.holmetrics.com.

The Startup-In-Residence program will be taking applications in early 2023. Contact us to be the first to know when applications open. Please reach out directly to info@inceptionu.com.
