AI-powered employment platform can help candidates find tech jobs

If you were to judge the job market by the headlines we see in the newspapers, you’d think finding a job in tech would be simple. After all, we constantly hear about thousands of open and unfulfilled job positions and companies are regularly lamenting the shortage of talent.

Yet, if you talk to  job seekers, many will tell you finding those opportunities is a fine art and job offers aren’t exactly landing in their email inboxes daily.

The truth is…finding a job is work! It’s hard, and if you’re doing it on your own, you’ll need patience and a thick skin.

That’s why InceptionU has launched a partnership with Calgary-based Acuspire, an employment platform that uses artificial intelligence to match job seekers and employment opportunities.

“We work with the people who are helping the job seekers,” says Stephen Wensley, founder and CEO of Acuspire. ”Typically, it’s organizations, like InceptionU, that help people find their first job or are in a job transition. Our platform really speeds up their work flow.”

Statistics from Workopolis indicate the traditional job search can take up to four months and people will apply to at least 10 opportunities before finding the right one.

Acuspire’s advanced algorithms use people’s resumes to instantly connect them with jobs that are a high potential fit. Gone are the days of spending hours searching online.

Acuspire is a small team with big goals. A team of three works out of the InceptionU space at the Calgary Library. It has also worked with organizations like Calgary Economic Development, Workers Compensation Board, WCG Services and Eco Canada Employment Programs. Its mission is “a future without job search” for Canadians.

“We’ve been very intentional about being Canada exclusive. We backfill our platform with jobs around the Canadian market so that there are tens of thousands of jobs across the country that people can apply to,” says Wensley.

For Cohort 8, 41 learners joined the platform and were instantly connected with over 60,000 jobs in the network. Our next group of learners, Cohort 9, will be invited to join the platform once their course finishes in February.

InceptionU CEO Margo Purcell says it’s a “no-brainer” that learners should join the platform to enhance their job search.

“We spend a lot of time working with the learners on interview and networking skills, but this is an ‘easy button’, if you will, to get those conversations started in a rapid manner, saving them time and effort spent searching,” says Purcell.

The Acuspire platform is growing rapidly. Right now, it has 65 staffing firms and over 1,200 employers registered on the site who regularly post opportunities, with about 160,000 job seekers. The jobs aren’t just tech positions, but opportunities in a multitude of industries.

Using the site is simple - once a job seeker is registered, they are invited to drag and drop their resume into the platform, noting the geographic location where they want to work. The platform analyzes their skills and education and delivers 25 top matches/opportunities. From there, people can apply directly to the company. Acuspire is constantly fine-tuning its software and matching algorithm to better reflect values alignment between the candidate and potential employer.

“It gives them fast access to opportunities of value while removing the ones that aren’t a great fit,” adds Wensley.

Once on the platform, users receive emails and/or text messages any time there’s a new opportunity from employers - this can happen almost every hour!

“InceptionU basically has a 24-7 recruiter working for them, scanning the entire market on behalf of every student,” he says.

Acuspire is always looking to partner with more organizations that assist in job search and recruitment processes. If you would like to increase access to employment opportunities for your own clients, reach out for a free trial today.

So, how do you go from finding the opportunity to getting the interview and landing the job? That’s the subject of our next blog post. Stay tuned!
